Cervical Screening

We have a bumper month of cervical screening drop-in clinics this January. If you are due to be screened or missed your last appointment come and join us at one of our clinics, no appointments necessary.

Cervical screening is a free health test available on the NHS as part of the national cervical screening programme. It helps prevent cervical cancer by checking for a virus called high-risk HPV and cervical cell changes. It is not a test for cancer.

If it is your first cervical screening, you feel embarrassed or worried, you have had a bad experience before, or you have experienced anything that makes the test hard for you, telling the person doing the test means they can try to give you the right support. If it would help or you need assistance, you can ask if someone can come with you. It could be a friend, family member, partner or someone else. They can be in the waiting room or examination room with you to offer support. They may also be able to speak on your behalf about any worries.

If a trusted person isn’t able to come to the appointment, you can check if another member of staff can be with you for support. This person is sometimes called a chaperone.

GP Patient Survey

In early January, around 2.5 million randomly selected people registered with GP practices will be invited to answer a GP Patient Survey questionnaire about their experiences. The findings help to show what’s working and what needs to improve.

If you receive an invitation, please do take the time to take part and have your say so we can deliver the best possible service to patients.

If you need support completing the survey or need it made available in another language or format, visit www.gp-patient.co.uk/received-survey-open. Or call the free helpline number 0800 819 9135

Antibiotics

Antibiotics can be superheroes against bacterial infections, but they're powerless against viruses. Remember, they're not the cure for that pesky cold or flu. Let's use these meds wisely to keep them effective when we truly need them. #antiobioticawareness #viralinfections
